Obituary: Rodgers W. Platt, 53, Sarasota, died Oct. 8, 1999.
He was born May 9, 1946, in Sarasota. He was a Sarasota County sheriff's deputy for 21 years. He received a master's in education from Bethany Theological Seminary. He was a veteran of the Coast Guard. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and was active in church activities.
Survivors include his wife, June; two sons, Jason and Jonathan, both of Sarasota; a sister, Sharon Krause of Sarasota; two brothers, Michael and Lynn, both of Sarasota; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Robarts Funeral Home. The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Faith Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Sarasota Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, Gift of Remembrance Headquarters, 1101 N. Lake Destiny Road, No. 415, Maitland, FL 32751-7105.
