Obituary: Eleanor Joy Platt Dyess, 75, Arcadia, died of cancer May 27, 2000.
She was born July 6, 1924, in Arcadia and was a lifelong resident.
She retired in 1987 as vice president and personnel director of DeSoto National Bank (now Sun Trust) after 36 years. She was a lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a member of Francis Asbury Sunday School Class, and a former member of the administrative council and Sunday school literature/publications chairman. She was a member of Hughlett Guild and American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, William R. Jones of Lakeside Park, Ky.; a brother, Dr. Frank H. Platt of Okeechobee; and six nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church, with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church Building Fund, 304 W. Oak St., Arcadia, FL 34265; or to American Cancer Society, Breast Cancer Research, P.O. Box 1492, Arcadia, FL 34265.
