Porterdale 9th Grade Graduation Class 1937

The picture is the 9th grade graduation class. Porterdale School had only 9 grades in those days. This was 1937.
To finish High School, we had to go to Covington (Our Newton County seat) or to Livingston (a country High School in the McDonough Road.) to finish the other two grades. (only 11 grades to finish High School then)

Ruth Baird Shaw is 4th from left, 1st row. See enlarged photo below.

I think it's a very nice picture. We just don't dress up like that and certainly don't have the flowers like that for graduations anymore. It's a shame isn't it!
