Billy E. Patterson
Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home

Billy E. Patterson, 74, of Covington, died June 4 at Newton Medical Center. The son of the late Harold Zack Wesley and Onie Lee Millwood Patterson, he was a life-long resident of Newton County. He served 10 years in the U.S. Coast Guard and seven years in the U.S. Army, serving in Korea and Germany. Mr. Patterson attended Porterdale Baptist Church and was a member of Gaithers United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing fast pitch softball, golf and playing the harmonica. Mr. Patterson loved to watch the Braves.

Surviving are wife of 53 years Betty R. Patterson; daughters and sons-in-law Kathy Heath, Karen Patterson, Tawney and Jamie Perry, all of Covington, Pamela and Mike Harper and Patricia and Roy Lane, all of Porterdale; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law Sandra and Danny Long of Covington, Randolph Cagle of Cumming; brothers and sisters-in-law Laverne (Blunt) and Marlene Patterson of Covington, Harold Lee and Barbara Patterson of McDonough, Emma Lou Patterson of Oxford; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today, June 4, in the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan with the Rev. J.S. Brown and the Rev. Dickie Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park.
