Dorothy Mae Whitley

 

Dorothy Mae (Dot) Whitley, of Porterdale, died January 28, 2009, at Newton Medical Center, at the age of 76. Daughter of the late Oscar M. and Estelle Blackburn Freeman, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend to many. She was preceded in death by husband, James Aubrey Whitley.

Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Patricia Fuller, Diane and Robbie Siders; sons and daughters-in-law, Toby and Donna Whitley, Ronnie and Judy Whitley, Wayne and Judy Whitley, Donnie and Louise Whitley, Dennis and Shirley Whitley, Junior and Pattie Whitley; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Maxine and Robert Chandler, Reda Ivey, Brenda and Curtis Morgan, Mitzie and Danny Gardener; brothers and sisters-in-law, Earl and Mary Freeman, Billy Wayne and Barbara Freeman, Cecil Freeman, Ricky and Dorothy Freeman.

Funeral services for Mrs. Whitley will be held Sunday, February 1, 2:00 PM, at the Floyd Street chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, with Rev. Johnny Peacock, Pastor Charles Harvey, Pastor Roger Wayne Whitley, and Rev. Dennis E. Whitley officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, Saturday, January 31, from 6-8 PM. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to help with Mrs. Whitley’s funeral expenses.
