Lanier
Smallwood, of Covington, died February 5, 2009, at Heartland
Hospice, at the age of 71. Son of the late C. L. and Emma Ezell Long
Smallwood, he was a member of Porterdale Baptist Church and a
retired hairdresser. Mr. Smallwood loved playing the piano, and
enjoyed fishing and working crossword puzzles. He was preceded in
death by brother, Donovan Smallwood.
Survivors include sisters, Diane Short of Covington and Polly Helms of Thomaston; sister-in-law, Agnes Smallwood of Stockbridge; nieces and nephew, Amy Helms, Nan Armstead, Johnny Smallwood; greatest great-niece, Taylor Jones; a host of many special friends. Funeral services for Mr. Smallwood will be held Sunday, February 8, 2:00 PM, at the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, with Rev. Dickie Johnson officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan, Saturday, February 7, from 6-8:30 PM. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Porterdale Baptist Church in memory of Lanier Smallwood. |
