Notes for U
LI VOEGELIN:
Extract of a message from "Helen Keegan" <robert.keegan@prodigy.net>
......... The Vogelburg is at the top of a mountain at the "passwang" an area at the
end of the Black Forest on the East and the border of France on the west
with Basil area in between. It is quite a glorious sight and it gave me
goosebumps! Martin gave me a copy of an old woodcut of the Vogelburg.
My ancestor, whose birth the researcher could not find was a servant at
hartneck Castle in the Von Gemmingen Estate in Wurtemburg. To marry outside
this area, he needed manumissions or permission so that he could marry his
Swiss wifw in Treschklingen, Ger.not too far from Sinsheim. The researcher
tried to read line by line the estate records to find the manumission,
because birth and parents are often mentioned...but he gave up because the
records were non-ending. it would have cost me a ton! he assures me that
one day they will be translated and indexed. he is suppossed to let me
know! ........... John Fegley is the one from Fegleyville where Washington spent time
on his father's farm. He fought at the battle of Brandywine.
