   General Notes:

DOYLE LE FEVRE STEELE
Written by himself in 1963 for the book, "Memoirs of Mahonri Moriancumer Steele, Jr."

I am the fifth child of Charlotte Moore LeFevreand Mahonri Moriancumer Steele, Jr. I was born in Panguitch, and raised on a ranch on the East Fork. I attended school at Panguitch and later moved to the Mitchel Ranch in the summer and went to Junction to school in the winter. We moved to Circleville for two summers and one winter, and then to Beaver one winter.

In the spring of 1912, when I was in the fifth grade, we moved to Delta and lived in a little house down in the southwest end of Delta. We hauled our water to drink from the Dell Searls farm. Eugene Gardner was my teacher. We then moved out in the Sutherland District and in the Bunkerville area. Here I lived until November 1924 when my paraents sold their land and new home. During these years at Sutherland, I attended school there, walking four miles to and from school in all kinds of weather. At an early age I was sent to Rain Lakes north of Delta to care for the cattle belonging to the Steele Company.

In the year 1918, I enlisted in the U.S. Army and went to France, serving until the Armistice was signed in 1919. After my discharge from theArmy, I worked on the farm for my father and later at a mine south of Kanosh. I also drove truck for the Sugar Company until 1924, at which time I married Lena Pearl Prows of Kanosh, Utah. We built us a home on highway 99 in Sutherland District. We are the parents of four girls and three boys. In the year of 1963 we have 20 grandchildren. I am still a farmer and work on the State Highway maintenance.

I have a testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and try to live it to the best of my ability. I have served as Superintendent of the Sunday School and a number of other positions. I am at present serving as a stake board member of the Genealogical Committee, and I am in the presidency of the High Priests' Group and a ward teaching supervisor.

Doyle married Lena Pearl PROWS-[85] [MRIN:42], daughter of Hyrum PROWS-[2973] and Annie May HOWLETT-[2974], on 1 Mar 1924 in Fillmore, Millard, Utah, USA.1 (Lena Pearl PROWS-[85] was born on 4 Jan 1907 in Kanosh, Millard, Utah, USA, died in Provo, Utah, Utah, USA and was buried in Sutherland, Millard, Utah, USA.)
