Married 2nd: Mary Bowman Date: 4 Jun 1880 Hyrum was a member of the Mormon Battalion. Upon his release, he returned to Salt Lake with other members. He settled in Farmington with his family and made a home there, until they were called to go to Dixie to help settle that area. From there he took his family to help settle Meadow Valley (Panaca) Eagle Valley in Utah in 1864 . In the spring of 1871 , they moved to Kanab , and then in the fall moved to Panguitch and built a home there. Hyrum helped dig the first canal in Panguitch and was a member of the school board. He was also the first Justice of the Peace there. In 1876 he was called to help settle Sunset in Northern Arizona . In 1881 they settled Smithville , in the Gila Valley in Arizona , and in 1887 they went to Colonia Juarez in Mexico . He was a farmer, teamster, soldier, dairyman and surveyor.
