Martin H. Dawson, his town in Texas and burial place in Missouri
Martin H. Dawson, earliest known ancestor of our Dawson family, first appears in the records in Blackjack (now named Cumby), Hopkins County, Texas. We know nothing of his parents or siblings. He married Mary Baker, about whose ancestry we know little. There are several Dawsons and Bakers buried in the Cave Spring Cemetery near Sarcoxie, Missouri. There are indications that a Baker family owned land in that area. We have no documented ancestors of Martin, yet we have dared to include a copy of the traditional British crest or coat of arms of the Dawson families. We hope one day that some family members document the connection!
