Elmer and Georgia (Frentz) Dawson

Elmer, son of Isom and Allie (Cannady) Dawson, was born in Sarcoxie, Missouri. He married Georgianna "Georgia" Frentz on 11 Feb 1918 in Dodge City, Ford County, Kansas. They had two daughters and two sons: Mildred, Marcene, Melvin, and Dean. All of the children were born in Ford, Kansas. Georgia was born in Scotch Plains, Union Co., NJ and lived in an orphanage during much of her childhood. She was one of the many children transported to the midwest on what has become known as the Orphan Train, in 1911. After some placements that did not work out, she found a home with Julia Riegel in Great Bend, Kansas. Elmer and Georgia met when Julia sent Georgia to help with harvest at the home of other Riegels who were ill. They lived in Ford, where Elmer also was helping with harvest. Elmer and Georgia were long-time residents of the Ford, Kansas community.
