Philip Karns, Sr. had three sons, all of whom play prominent parts in the ancestry of our Karns families. (He may have had two other sons also.) Peter, the firstborn, lived from 1779-1866. He married Sarah Bottenfield, and some of their daughters also married into the Bottenfield line. All of the persons and families included here descended from Peter and Sarah, and are cousins of our Karns family.
