The third son of Philip Karns, Sr., Philip Jr., was born about 1790. His descendants tended not to overlap in marriages with the children of Jacob, the son from whom most of our Karns family comes. There is one set of descendants about which we have some information. This is the group who lived in the vicinity of Loysburg, Pennsylvania. They are featured in a book written by Charles Wesley Karns, a minister of Methodist Church. The book, "Historical Sketches of Morrison's Cove," published in 1933, originally was published in the Altoona Mirror newspaper.
