In this 1870 census index from Boscobel, Wisconsin, Rachel Ladd is living in the home of James Cummins and his wife Anna, both age 47 and both born in Vermont. We do not know what relationship they had. In that same census of 1870 Rachel is listed in the Lancaster census as living with William Miller. We can only conjecture, as noted in the previous page, about the reasons for the dual listings.
