This Certificate of Service from the State Historical Society of Wisconsin indicates that Charles Ladd enlisted on 2 Jan 1864 in Boscobel, Wisconsin for a term of 3 years, and was mustered in 16 Jan 1864 at Madison. His residence was listed as Boscobel (although now there is some question whether Charles lived in Boscobel or Millville at that time). He was mustered out 14 July 1865 at Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was 18 years old at enlistment, with blue eyes, dark hair, dark complexion, was 5' 7" tall and a farmer by occupation.
