This is Happy Valley School, a rural school southeast of Cushing, Oklahoma. The school had been closed for some years when this photo was taken in 1993. Here Forrest Ladd Jr. attended all of his elementary school years, graduating from the 8th grade as valedictorian in 1940. His teachers were Mrs. Ashmore, Mrs. Lillian Daniel, and Mr. Arthur Beall. Arthur was the principal as well as teacher of grades 6-8. Among the graduates were four friends who went all through grade school together--Wilma Mash, Delores Morgan, Eddie Dethloff, and Forrest Ladd, Jr.
