34-Forrest and Linda, 1945

Forrest Ladd, Sr. and daughter Linda on the beach behind the home we lived in during the summer of 1945 on the shore of Hood Canal in Washington State. This view is facing north, with the house in the background. The road is out of view on the left and Hood Canal is out of view to the immediate right. At high tide the water came up over the lower steps and under the porch. Bonnie wrote about this picture: "Logs that Forrest got out of the water. The two had about $15 worth of wood in them. Water covers all of this at high tide." Apparently there was some need for firewood, judging from the saw. (One of the pictures saved in a large family album by Nila (Ladd) Haskin.)
