Glimpses of Stilwell people and places in England
The Stilwell families have a rich heritage in England, with records going back to the 14th century. We are fortunate to have made the acquaintance of Martin Stilwell, a skilled genealogical researcher of the Stilwell families in England. Thank you, Martin, for your assistance in many ways, including hosting Forrest and Gwen in 1999 and providing several fine photographs of known Stilwell locations in England. On the other hand, we Oklahoma Stilwells only know our Stillwell ancestry for certain back to Daniel and Rachel in Miami and Darke Counties, Ohio. There are many details of Stillwell families in other genealogical records, especially the monumental work of John Edwin Stillwell of New York. We hope to be able to trace an unbroken lineage from the present back to Nicholas Stillwell the immigrant, but we lack the link between Daniel Stillwell of Miami and Darke Counties and the Elias Stillwell who emigrated from New Jersey to Miami County, Ohio.
