From a map in the Kings County Clerk's Office. Each radiating area was farmed by one of the 40 patentees. One each was held by Nicholas Stillwell and Richard Stillwell. (Which ones is unknown.) Some extended south into Coney Island. See Bergen, 1881, p. 219 for a list of 40 patentees. Samuel Holmes is listed with three patents (lots 2, 13, and 37). The plan was that each resident would have land inside the town, and also have land extending out from the town for farming. The "rays" portray boundaries of the extended farm lands.
