This is the 1926 photo of May Stilwell, daughter of John Stilwell, transformed into "Madeline, a fairy found in my aunt's rose garden near the arbor" by Teresa (Anderson) Yates. Back early in 2007 Teresa, who is a 2nd cousin once removed of Forrest Ladd, Jr., asked permission to use this photo of May to create a decorative craft item for sale from her Cedar Junction shop in Kingsville, Texas. Teresa transformed May into Madeline and has her for sale. She describes her thus: "Madeline is in a quart-sized Kerr Mason jar with air holes drilled in the top of the lid which is decorated with fibers, faux pearls, a vintage button and a tag that reads Captured Fairy. She is in a bed of reindeer moss to keep her comfortable." The common ancestors of Teresa and Forrest are Charles Henry and Henrietta "Ettie" (Richmond) Ladd. Forrest is descended from their son Elno Boyd Ladd, while Teresa is a great-granddaughter of their son James Ernest Ladd. The common ancestors of Forrest and May are William Henry and Phebe (Hiller) Stilwell. May's father John and Forrest's grandfather Harry were brothers. Note that John used the Stilwell spelling, while Harry and family used the Stillwell spelling. Each was firm in his choice of proper spelling!
