Forrest E. Ladd, Jr.
Forrest Jr. is the firstborn of Forrest and Bonnie (Stillwell) Ladd. At the time he was born the family was living on an 80-acre farm across the road southeast of Forrest's mother in the Happy Valley School community southeast of Cushing, Oklahoma. Their home was a two-room house with wood stoves, a hand-drawn well for water, and no utilities. There were no electrical or phone lines in the community. Forrest Jr. and his bride-to-be, Melva Jean Karns, met as students at Bethany-Peniel College in Bethany, Oklahoma.
