This portrait of Flo May Still was created by the Hal Owen Studio, 224 W. Main St., Oklahoma City. In the early 1940s, Flo served as secretary to S. T. Ludwig, President of Bethany-Peniel College in Bethany, Oklahoma. Flo's home area was Cushing, and this portrait was made in Oklahoma City, of which Bethany is a suburb. That combination of facts indicates that this picture was made about 1942 or 1943 when Flo was about age 34. Flo later married Ordell Payne on 16 Sept 1945.
