Tracing Stillwell and Smith families by census records
One way to trace family relationships and where moving families go is to follow the census records. While census records sometimes contain errors, they are a useful tool. There are a number of organizations which scan census records and make them available, and we have included some of those original records here. Note particularly the 1900 census for Payne County for both Stillwell and Smith families in close proximity. We have found a paid subscription to Ancestry invaluable in obtaining census records, as well as other research.
