Susan, wife of Jacob Haviland, was born Susan (Susannah) Stillwell, daughter of William Henry and Phebe (Hiller) Stillwell. She probably was born, not in Vermont, but in New Jersey. (The 1850 census shows birthplace as New Jersey, 1860 as Ohio, 1870 as New Jersey, and this 1880 census reports her birthplace as Vermont. So much for the dependability of census records!) Son Homer was born in Sept 1869. We know very little about him. This census record was taken in Monegan, St. Clair County, Missouri.
