Tombstone of William Mumford Smith and his wife Carolina "Collie" Perlina Tate Smith. Located in a cemetery in Shawnee, Okla. The grave is completely covered by two large arbor vitae evergreens. I had to crawl through underbrush of the trees to find the stone and take the picture on 28 May 1997. Inscriptions: William M 1832 - 1915 Collie P 1845 - 1920 Smith. The whitish streaks are tree branches caught in the flash.
Here is what Bonnie Ladd, granddaughter, wrote in 1997: "Graves of Collie P Tate and William M Smith my grand parents. I remember Grandpa very well. I was 9 years of age when he passed away [in the] winter of 1915. Grandma lived with us from 1916 to July 1920. By Bonnie Stillwell Ladd, June 1 - 1997."
