HOW TO READ AND INTERPRET THESE GENEALOGICAL ANCESTORS REPORTS This kind of report starts with the most recent descendant selected for the report and proceeds backward in time to the earliest ancestor on record. A centered heading identifies each generation by number. Each person is assigned a unique ID number that remains with him or her throughout the report. It appears to the left of the name. Please note that women are always referred to by their maiden surname. To follow the ancestry of any given person, look for his or her number in the remainder of the report. Since this kind of report covers both paternal and maternal ancestors, the numbers sometimes jump generations. Paternal ancestors are referred to by even numbers and odd numbers refer to the maternal ancestors. Just keep looking for the number, which will be the first item in a paragraph with that person's name after it. As with the descendant reports, you may occasionally see isolated commas, and superscript reference numbers shown twice, one right after the other. These are quirks of the system we use; just ignore then and go on with the information presented. If you have questions about reading these reports, please send an e-mail to Forrest or Jean and we will help you.
