There are very few written source documents for our branch of the Dawson family. We have found material in old copies of the Sarcoxie Record newspaper (Sarcoxie, Missouri) and the Bucklin Banner (Bucklin, Kansas). Some of the Web sites have been useful, especially the census records on the Ancestry subscription site. Various county records have been found either through direct visits or on their Web pages.

By far the greatest sources used have been personal knowledge, interviews with family members, and such sources as funeral home records, funeral folders, and obituaries from scattered sources.

Since our knowledge of Martin H. Dawson begins when he was an adult, we have no older Dawson family records to research in the printed literature.
