Wedded 50 Years Relatives and friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. I. M. Dawson in Ford Friday evening at six o'clock at a buffet dinner to help them celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Both are widely known as Ford county pioneers, having resided in Ford and vicinity for thirty years. They were married October 5, 1884 at Sarcoxie, Mo. They came to Kansas 35 years ago and settled on a farm near Seward, Stafford county, and five years later moved to Ford county, five miles north of Ford. He still owns the farm. They moved to town about 22 years ago this fall. They have ten children, five boys and five girls, all living in and around Ford except two girls. There are twenty-seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. There were four birthday anniversaries celebrated also in the family. All the family was present except three grandsons. The children presented Mr. and Mrs. Dawson a clock and many flowers. These present were: Mr. and Mrs. Wm. P. Warner and Nellie, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Dawson and family, Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Dawson and family, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Dawson and sons, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Karns and family, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Dawson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Karns and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Riley of Palco, Mrs. Clarice Smith and sons of Dodge City, Homer Dawson, Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Snook and family, Mr. and Mrs. William Prater and daughter, Percy Stutz of Dodge City and Miss Roberta Pearsall. –Newspaper clipping saved by Verna (Dawson) Karns.
