Obituary

Isom Martin Dawson was born in Hopkins county, Texas, February 27, 1863, and died in St. Anthony's hospital February 3, 1936. He moved with his parents to Jasper county, Missouri, as a child. He was married October 5, 1884, to Allie M. Cannady at Sarcoxie, Missouri. In 1899 he moved with his family to Stafford County, Kansas, and after 5 years moved to a farm near Ford. In 1912 he moved to Ford, where he lived until his death. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Allie M. Dawson, and ten children: Mrs. W. P. Warner, C. C. Dawson, G. E. Dawson, J. O. Dawson, Elmer Dawson, Mrs. Arthur Karns, Homer Dawson, Mrs. Elmer Karns, all of Ford; Mrs. Eugene Riley of Palco, and Mrs. Clarice Smith of Dodge City; also twenty-seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for I. M. Dawson were held at the Methodist church Wednesday, February 5. Rev. Hoff of Wichita, a former pastor here 20 years ago, had charge of the services, with Rev. Whitney assisting. Walter Cobb sang a solo and a quartet consisting of Rev. R. O. Schmidt, Harry Patterson, Henry Ellerbusch, and Carl Karns of Bucklin also sang. Six grandsons acted as pallbearers, and the following were Honorary pallbearers: D. O. Rinehart, Len Barngrover, John Sims, Bill Hiland, Dave Cook and C. A. Bridgewater. Six granddaughters carried flowers. This is the first break in a family of 53. The wife, ten children, nine sons- and daughters-in-law survive.
Mrs. Clarice Smith and a friend took Mrs. Eugene Riley to her home in Palco Monday. Mrs. Riley was called here by the sickness and death of her father, I. M. Dawson.

Dawson funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Church of Minneola, Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Somerville and Jim Somerville of Copeland, Mrs. Lizzie Gall, Mrs. Howard Wormington, Mr. And Mrs. William Warshaw, Miss Sarah Riley, Rev. and Mrs. Howard Rogers, Charlie Wilcoxen, Harry Herzer, J. H. Shean and A. P. Henthorn, all of Dodge City, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Hatfield of Fowler, Eugene Riley of Palco, Clyde Dawson of Wichita, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Karns of Bucklin.
