I. M. Dawson, Ford Pioneer Leader, Dies
Isom M. Dawson, prominent retired farmer of Ford, active in community activities there for more than thirty years, died Monday afternoon in St. Anthony hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for heart trouble for three weeks.
Mr. Dawson was within a month of 73 years old. He was born in Texas, lived in Missouri until 36 years ago, when he moved his family to a farm near St. John and after five years there moved to a farm near Ford 31 years ago. He had lived near and in Ford since. He was highly regarded as a leader in civic and religious activities at Ford for many years.
He is survived by his widow and ten sons and daughters. They are Mrs. W. P. Warner, C. C. Dawson, G. E. Dawson, J. O. Dawson and Elmer Dawson, all of the Ford community; Mrs. Elmer Karns and Mrs. Arthur Karns of near Ford; Mrs. Eugene Riley of Palco, Kas., Homer Dawson living at home and Mrs. Clarice Smith of Dodge City. Also 27 grandchildren and three great grandchildren survive him.
Funeral services will be in the Ford Methodist church at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon and burial will be in the Ford cemetery, directed by Hulpieu-Morgan.
