Obituary  --  Allie M. Dawson

 

Allie M. Dawson, daughter of Charles Wesley and Rosella Cannady, was born June 15, 1865 at Mascoutah, Ill., and parted this life April 28, 1945, 11:30 a. m. at the age of 79 years, 10 months and 13 days.

 

She moved as a child with her parents to Jasper county, Mo. She was united in marriage to Isom M. Dawson, October 5, 1884. To this union five sons and five daughters were born, nine of whom survive. In 1899 the family moved to Stafford County, Kansas. In 1904 they came to a farm four miles south of Ford and in 1912 moved into Ford where she resided until her death.

 

She became a Christian as a young woman, and remained faithful until the end. She was a charter member of the Ford Church of the Nazarene, and treasurer of the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society for 19 years. Her husband, one daughter and three grandchildren preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her loss five sons and four daughters. They are :

 

Mrs. W. P. Warner, C. C. Dawson, G. E. Dawson, Homer Dawson, Mrs. Arthur Karns, Mrs. Elmer Karns, all of Ford; and J. O. Dawson, Elmer Dawson and Mrs. Elta Riley of Dodge City. Twenty-seven grandchildren (8 of whom are in the armed services of our country) twenty-four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ella Jenkins of Denver, Colo., who so faithfully attended her in her last illness; Frank Cannady of Minneola, and Lester V. Cannady of Denver, Colo., besides a host of other relatives and friends.

 

Funeral services were at the Nazarene church at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, May 1 with Rev. August Brandes of Clearwater, assisted by Rev. C. K. Helsel officiating, a quartet composed of the three Karns brothers, two of whom are son-in-laws, Arthur, Elmer, Carl and Raymond Hart sang. Rev. Clyde Dawson, a grandson, sang a solo. Pallbearers were grandsons. Burial was made in Ford cemetery. Out of town relatives attending the funeral service were:

Harold Beavers of Tampa, Fla., Coxwain Howard Cannady of Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. Dell Cannady of Portersville, Calif., Mrs. Lloyd Church, Frank Cannady, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Steele and sons, all of Minneola, Rev. and Mrs. Clyde Dawson and daughter Judy of LaJunta, Colo., Private Kenneth Dawson, Camp Crowder, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Dawson, Two Buttes, Colorado, Mrs. Lee Sheldon, Miss Marcene Dawson, Mrs. Melvin Dawson, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Dawson, Mrs. Elta Riley and Sarah Jean, Mrs. Harold Beavers and Virginia Ann and J. O. Dawson, all of Dodge City.
