Homer L. Dawson
Homer L. Dawson, 73, 511 ½ 10th, died Monday afternoon shortly after his arrival at Trinity Hospital. Born August 11, 1899, in Great Bend, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Isom Martin Dawson. The family moved to St. John in 1900, then to a farm north of Ford in 1905, where he grew up.
For several years, he operated a grocery in Ford. Later he was employed by the Kansas Soldiers Home, Ft. Dodge. He retired three years ago after being supervisor of Pershing Hall for 13 years. After his retirement he moved to Dodge City and retained farm interests near Ford.
He married Mrs. Martha Hager in the early 1940s. She died June 8, 1952.
Survivors include brothers: Guy Everette, Lamar, Colo.; Jesse O., and Elmer both of Dodge City; sisters: Mrs. Lillie Warner, Ford; Mrs. Verna Karns, Oklahoma City; Mrs. Elta J. Riley, Baton Rouge, La.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Hulpieu-Swaim Chapel; Rev. Claude Fillingim. Burial will be in Ford Cemetery.
