Smith
Clarice Vestal Dawson, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I. M. Dawson, was born May 30, 1907, at the farm home four miles north of Ford. She was educated in the Ford schools, taught one year in the country, and lived here until two years ago when she went to Arizona for her health. In 1929 she was married to Ferris Smith. To this union twin sons, Bobby and Billy, were born.
Her health was somewhat improved until she had a severe attack of the flu a few weeks ago from which she did not recover. Her friends told us that she had been praying to go and that she was not afraid to take the journey. She passed away at Douglas, Arizona, March 15, at the age of 32 years, 10 months, 15 days. Her father preceded her in death four years ago. She is survived by the twins, who now reside with Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Karns, her mother, Allie M. Dawson, five brothers, Clifton, Everett, Jesse, Elmer, Homer; four sisters, Lillie Warner, Edith Karns, Verna Karns, and Elta Riley, all of Ford, a number of nieces and nephews. Also her friends here and in Arizona.
Funeral services were held in the Nazarene church at Ford at 2 o'clock March 19. The Rev. Donna Key officiated. The Rev. C. S. Hutsell, pastor of the Methodist church at Plains, an old friend of the Dawson family, read the scriptures and offered prayer. A quartette composed of Mrs. Neva Riegel, Mrs. Ansel Hager, Raymond Hart and Carl Karns of Bucklin, with Miss Maxine McMichael at the piano, furnished the music. Pallbearers were Harold Tharp, Elmer Riegel, Loren Barngrover, Arthur Powell, Arnold Snook and Walter Herzer. Burial was made in Ford cemetery.
