Harry Milton Dawson was born August 27, 1913, at Ford, and passed away May 29, 1944, at the age of 30 years, 9 months and 2 days, at La Junta. He was converted at the age of 20 years and soon felt the call to preach. He began his ministry in the Methodist church in 1936, and served as pastor at Ensign, Sitka and Centerview and Bethel. In 1938 he joined the Church of the Nazarene and held pastorates at Manhattan, Peabody, and Paonia and Trinidad, Colo.

 

He was united in marriage to Helen Wooten, December 24, 1937, at Ford. To this union was born one son, Harry Eugene. Those left to mourn are his wife, Helen, son, Harry Eugene, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Dawson, one brother, Carl of the U. S. army, his grandmother, Mrs. Allie Dawson, and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Nazarene church in Ford, Friday, June 2, with the Rev. W. E. Thompson of Denver, Colo., officiating. Pallbearers were cousins, with the exception of Harry Lamb, who took the place of one unable to attend. Those acting were Wilbur, Herbert, Vernon and Dean Dawson, Lenes Close and Mr. Lamb.

 

A quartet composed of Arthur and Elmer Karns, uncles, Glenn Karns, a cousin, and Carl Karns, sang. Rev. Clyde Dawson, a cousin of La Junta, Colo., sang a solo. Burial was in the Ford cemetery.

 

Out of town relatives attending were: Pvt. Carl Dawson of Tyler, Tex., Mrs. Carl Dawson and son of Colorado Springs; Rev. Clyde Dawson and family of La Junta, Pearle Dawson of La Junta, Rev. and Mrs. C. S. Hutsell, Helen Hutsell, Mrs. Kenneth Weber and James Derrington of Wichita, Mrs. Dewey White and son and Charley Lovette of Walla Walla, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. Teeterman of La Junta, Mr. and Mrs. Mettling and Mrs. Huckstep of Centerview, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Scott of Bethel, Rev. Donna Key of Macksville, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Pearsall and daughter of Ulysses, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Prater and daughter of Kismet, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Church and son of Minneola, Rev. Leon Bridgewater of Fowler.
