Lockman - Francis Wedding in Ford Methodist Church

 

Deanna Ruth Lockman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Lockman, Ford, and Michael Francis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Francis, Hays, were united in marriage Sunday, June 19, at 3 o'clock in the Ford Methodist Church. The double ring ceremony was read by Rev. E. J. Vaughan of Bucklin. Candelabra and two baskets of majestic daisies were the altar and daisies and greenery decorated the church. Mary Bowen, Hays, played the wedding music and Beth Fellers, Hays, sang "Entreat Me Not to Leave Thee," "The Wedding Prayer" and "The Lord's Prayer."

 

The floor length gown was white nylon organdy with panniers embroidered with delicate daisies. The three-quarter length sleeves and sabrina neckline were also embroidered with daisies. Her veil was held by a crown of pearl daisies and iridescent sequins. She carried a colonial bouquet of daisies and sweetheart roses. The bride's mother wore brown nylon with white accessories. The groom's mother chose a blue lace dress with white accessories. They wore corsages of cymbidium orchids. The bride chose an aqua linen suit for her going away ensemble. She wore a rose corsage from her bouquet. They left immediately for Mexico City where the groom will attend the summer session at the University of Mexico.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Francis are spring graduates of Fort Hays State. After August 25th they will be home in Charlottesville, Va., where Mr. Francis will attend graduate school at the University of Virginia. Mrs. Francis will teach English at Madison, Va.

 

John Francis attended his brother as best man and Carolyn Lockman was maid of honor for her sister. Bridesmaids were Margaret Stapleton, Jewell, and Mrs. Darell Williams, Wichita, cousins of the bride. They wore dresses of aqua chiffon with hats of matching material with short veils. They carried white daisies fashioned over hand crocheted bells created by the bride's grandmother. Junior bridesmaids and taper lighters were Leslie Riegel, Ford, and Leigh Braddock, Dodge City, cousins of the bride. They wore matching dresses.

 

Groomsmen were Jack Harrison and Paul Palmer, both of Hays. Cousins of the bride, Steve Riegel, Ford, and Eddie Braddock, Dodge City, were junior groomsmen. Steve Blain, Colby, and Terry Hopkins, Hays, were ushers. Mrs. Roger Nelson, Hays, and Virginia Paulin, Ford, were in charge of the guest book.

 

Hostesses at the reception were Mrs. Volney Devoe and Mabel McKinnon, both of Dodge City. Assistants were Mrs. M. W. Snook, Ford, Mrs. Frank Moore, Dodge City, Gay Paustian, LaCrosse, Mrs. Sylvester Ternaat, Timken, Mary Desbien, Palco, Jodi Spicer, Phillipsburg, Karen Conrad, Larned, and Ruth Ann Baker, Wilmore.
