Carolyn Lockman, Gary Salyer Marry In Sunday Afternoon Ceremony

 

Carolyn Mae Lockman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Archie A. Lockman, Ford, was united in marriage to Gary R. Salyer, Garden City, in a 3 p.m. ceremony June 10th in the Ford Methodist Church. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Salyer, Garden City.

 

Dr. J. Merion Kadyk, First Presbyterian Church in Garden City, officiated at the marriage ceremony and the wedding music was sung by Gordon Smith, Bucklin, and the wedding music played by Robert Warrender, Ford. White gladioli and greenery with candelabra decorated the church.

 


Honor attendants were the bride's sister, Mrs. Michael Francis, Charlottesville, Va., Pat Bransom, Garden City, and Mary Bowen, Kansas City. The bridegroom's brothers Ray Salyer and Van Salyer, Garden City, and Robert Tolar, Hutchinson, were groomsmen. Serving as ushers were Norman Moore, Robert Minter, Garden City, and Alvin Zwick, Hutchinson. Priscilla Kirk, Bucklin, was taperlighter. The bride wore a floor length gown of nylon organdy with panniers embroidered with daisies. The fitted bodice has a sabrina neckline and was embroidered with daisies. The coif of pearls and aurora borealis crystals held the silk illusion veil. She carried a bouquet of stephanotis and white roses. Her attendants wore white dresses with mint green gloves and pillboxes. They carried white long-stemmed roses.


Assistants at the reception were Mrs. Volney Devoe and Mabel McKinnon, Dodge City, Mrs. M. W. Snook, Lena Hartshorn, Ford, Marilyn Rogers, Hays, Laura Thompson, Kansas City, Mrs. Norman Moore, Garden City, Mary Ann Jordan, Fairview, Okla., and Mrs. Paul Dowell, Healy. Mrs. Max Steele was in charge of the guest book. She was assisted by Leslie Ann Riegel.

 

The mother of the bride wore a mist green dress with matching accessories and the groom's mother wore a medium brown dress with matching accessories. Each wore a corsage of cymbidium orchids. For going away, the bride chose a white textured cotton sheath with brown accessories, and wore an orchid corsage.

 

After a wedding trip to Colorado and Las Vegas, the couple will be at home at 804 North 5th, Garden City, where he manages the Wheat Lands Motel and Restaurant and the bride teaches in the Garden City schools. The bride graduated from Fort Hays State College and the groom graduated from Kansas State University.
