Dawson-Funk Nuptial Vows Repeated In Bethany Church

 

Nuptial vows were solemnized at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, November 14, in Bethany First Church of the Nazarene for Miss Kerry Elaine Dawson and Stanley Wayne Funk. Officiating at the double ring ceremony was Rev. Keith Wright. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Dawson, 4603 N. Wheeler, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harlton Funk, Beirut, Lebanon (U.S. Navy).

 

The church was decorated with baskets of orange gladiolus with white wrought iron candelabras adorned with green garland. The background behind the prie dieu was white lattice covered with English ivy. Wedding music was provided by Dave Miller, Kansas City, Kansas, organist, and Janis Dawson, vocalist, who sang "Twelfth of Never", "The Lord's Prayer" and "For This Cause". Glen Kastner lighted the candles preceding the ceremony.

 

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor length gown of crisp organza and Alencon lace fashioned with an A-line skirt, applique organza puff sleeves, and a scroll lace applique and embroidered panel extending from the high neckline to the hemline. The double circular lace applique train extended from the back waist to a chapel length. Her bouffant veil of illusion was attached to a beaded flower headpiece. She carried a colonial bouquet of white stephanotis and tropicana roses with picot satin ribbon.

 

Maid of honor was Miss Janis Dawson, sister of the bride. Matron of honor was Mrs. Alex Conn, Pueblo, Colorado. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Dwight Purtee, Marlow, sister of the bride, and Mrs. George Barnes. The attendants were dressed identically in sleeveless Empire style floor length gowns of orange satin. The V neckline and bodice was trimmed with gold braid. Each carried one long stemmed orange mum with moss green satin streamers and wore tiara headpieces. Flower girl was Stacy Purtee, Marlow, niece of the bride. She wore the same type dress as the honor attendants and carried a white basket of orange and bronze mums. Best man was Steve Shaw, New Bedford, Massachusetts. Groomsmen were Ron Brannon, Houston, Glen Kastner, and Jim Hadley.

 

For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Dawson wore a green linen ensemble with beige accessories. Her corsage was an orange glamellia.

 

A reception followed in the southwest foyer which was catered by Mrs. DeLos Beck. Assisting at the serving line were Miss Anita Kelly, Miss Sandy Mills, and Miss Erliene Brunkau. Mrs. Jerry Gessel was in charge of the guest book.

 

Among the out-of-town guests were Mrs. O.M. Doughty, Yukon, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Teal, Chandler, grandparents of the groom; Mrs. Roland Schoepf, Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Tonn, all of Haven, Kansas, aunts of the bride; and William Loehr, Kansas City, Mo., uncle of the bride.

 

The new Mrs. Funk traveled in a green knit suit with sleeveless brown suede jacket with brown accessories. After a short wedding trip to Grand Lake, the couple will establish a home at 6213 NW 37th.
