Miss Jan McClure Becomes Bride
Miss Jan McClure became the bride of Richard Close at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 2, at the First Nazarene Church, Bethany. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin McClure, 4511 N. Peniel [Bethany]. Mr. Close's parents are the L N. Close's, 9330 NW 58 Terrace [Oklahoma City].
Dr. E. S. Phillips officiated at the ceremony assisted by Rev. J. T. Gassett. Forming the nuptial setting were fountain arrangements of white daises and chrysanthemums flanked with candlelabras. An archway was decorated with ivy and flowers and a white aisle cloth led to the prie-dieu.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a dress of hand-clipped chantilly lace fashioned with a jeweled Sabrina neckline and a skirt adorned with jeweled lace in front and featuring a back cascade of lace and tulle ruffles. Her veil was fastened to a jeweled Swedish coronet. She carried a white orchid and pink elfe roses on a white Bible.
Mrs. Chester W. Longacre was her sister's matron of honor and bridesmaids were Miss Georgia Richards, Mrs. Phillip Showalter, Miss Dianna Stevens and Miss Sherryl Gassett. They wore dresses and hats of aqua embroidered organdy and carried nosegays with petit nosegays of pink elfe roses and feathered mums.
Jim Willis of Bethany was the best man. Groomsmen were Ken Close and Bob Close, brothers of the bridegroom; Chester W. Longacre and Jerry Akin [were ushers]. Candlelighters were Miss Sue Ellen Beasley and Miss Jadean Quinn. Frankie Jean Sumner of Coalgate, Oklahoma, was flower girl and Donald Close, nephew of the bridegroom was ring bearer. Mrs. Ruth Taylor, organist, played traditional music. Mr. Raleigh Isaacs sang "At Dawning" and "Indian Love Call."
After a reception at the church the couple left on a brief trip. They will establish a home in Bethany.
