Last Rites Held Saturday In Leoti For Roy H. Jay, 52

 

This community was saddened by the death of Roy H. Jay, 52. He died at the Wichita County Hospital in Leoti Wednesday evening, October 22, after a long illness.

 

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 25, 1975, at 2: 00 p.m. in the United Methodist Church in Leoti, with Rev. Gordon Tasker and Rev. Roland Teubner officiating.

 

Music was provided by organist Mrs. Otto Betlack. She accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Glen McAllister who sang "The King Is Coming," "Fill My Cup, Lord" and "How Great Thou Art."

 

Roy H. Jay, son of Scott and Bessie Jay, was born July 11, 1923, at Kingsdown. He married Doris Jean Smith on August 26, 1948, at Burlington, Colo. He was owner of Jay's Tune-Up and Repair, and had lived in Leoti since 1946.

 

He was a member of the Leoti United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and was a veteran of World War it. He is survived by the widow, Doris; son Ronald W. Paxton, Neb.; daughter, Mrs. Randy Henderson, Pratt; brothers, Merle, Fred, and Clifford, all of Leoti; Clarence, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Albert, Las Vegas, Nev.; sisters, Mrs. Hazel Ramsey, Seibert, Colo., Mrs. Ferne Eves, Garden City, Mrs. Wandalee, Ratzloff, Minneola; and three grandsons.

 

Honorary casket bearers were Norman Hooker, John McAllister, Donald Wallace, Glenn White, Irvin Krenzel, and Frank Elder.

 

Active casket bearers were Dennis Jay, Max Jay, Larry Eves, Steve Jay, Bruce Jay, and Larry Reynolds.

 

Interment was at the Leoti Cemetery.

 

The Weinmann-Price Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
