Former Resident Succumbs at Leoti

 

Roy H. Jay, 52, of Leoti, former Ford County resident, died Wednesday evening in the Wichita County Hospital, Leoti. He was born July 11, 1923, at Kingsdown.

 

Mr. Jay was a World War II veteran. After the war, he moved to Leoti, in 1946. He and Doris Jean Smith were married August 26, 1948, at Burlington, Colorado. He owned and operated Jay's Tune-Up and Repair service at Leoti.

 

Survivors include the widow; a. son, Ron, of Paxton, Nebraska; a daughter, Mrs. Randy Henderson of Pratt; three sisters, Mrs. Gordon Ramsey of Siebert, Colorado, Mrs. M. J. Eves of Garden City and Mrs. Art Ratzlaff of Minneola; five brothers, Merle, Fred and Clifford of Leoti, Clarence of Colorado Springs and Albert of Las Vegas, Nevada; and three grandsons.

 

The funeral was 2 p.m. Saturday in the Leoti United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gordon Tasker and the Rev. Ronald Teubner officiating. Burial was in the Leoti cemetery.
