John Karns Inspects a Bumper Crop of Milo

The milo crop is made. The only problem remaining for more western Kansas farmers is getting the moisture content of this 1950 miracle crop down around 13 where it will bring the best market price. In this picture John Karns is standing in the middle of a field of milo that was planted July 4. It’s a little hard for Mr. Karns to tell just what the yield will be but from the looks of the field it should be good. The Karns farm is located north and a little east of Bucklin where the soil is more sandy than the average in western Kansas.
