Florence Cornwell Rites Held April 20
Memorial services were held Monday, April 20, at 10:00 a. m. in the Osborne Methodist church for the late Florence Rousey Cornwell, who passed away April 17 at St. Joseph Hospital, Concordia, after an illness of some duration. Officiating for the service were Rev. Ida Miner Hartman and Rev. John Bathurst. Music for the service was provided by Mrs. L. H. Brewster, organist, and a male quartet composed of Henry Guyer, Floyd Guyer, Irvin Guyer and Harold Gilmore, with Mrs. Floyd Guyer as accompanist. Interment was made in Osborne cemetery with the following serving as casket bearers: Dean Conn, Roland Standley, Paul Bliss, Chris Ulrich, Ned Anderson, and Pete Swank.
Florence Rousey Cornwell, daughter of Perrian and Lucy Rousey, was born October 18, 1901, at Effingham, Kansas, and departed this life April 17, 1959, at St. Joseph Hospital, Concordia, Kansas, at the age of 57 years, 6 months.
On April 3, 1921, she was united in marriage to Harold R. Cornwell, at Osborne. To them were born four children, Hubert, Donald, Kenneth, and Lois Rae.
They lived in the Bristow community until April, 1958, when they moved to Osborne. While in the Bristow community, she was a member of the Covert Nazarene Church. In recent years, she attended the Free Methodist Church in Osborne, where she taught a Sunday School class.
Mrs. Cornwell was devoted to her family and will be missed by her husband, Harold; her sons, Hubert, of Northbrook, Illinois, Donald of Mission, Kansas, and Kenneth of Yates Center; her daughter, Mrs. Lois Rae Vohs, of Osborne; and her five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, a brother, Grover, and a sister, Grace. Surviving her also are her brothers, Marion Rousey, Horton, Kansas; Alymer Rousey, Port Townsend, Washintgon; Ray Rousey, Jetmore, Kansas, and Clifford Rousey, Denver, Colorado; and a sister, Mrs. Mae Howell of Garden City, Kansas; plus a host of friends.
