My sister-in-law (in her 70's) relayed an interesting story to me that she was told by her grandmother (Elizabeth Fuqua). Elizabeth's brother Edward's wife was very ill. Edward turned out to not be a very good caretaker for his wife. Friends or relatives went to see Edward's wife and they were appalled at her condition which included maggots in open sores on her body (probably bed sores). After his wife passed away Edward disappeared and was never see or heard from again. Elizabeth always wondered what happened to her brother but never found out. Since this story was told directly to my sister-in-law by her grandmother I'm inclined to believe there must be some truth to it. I don't think that my sister-in-law is aware of any of the children's names. Elizabeth Fuqua and Edward Smith are buried in the Ramah Cemetery in Lenox, AL
