Descendants of Alexander DAVIDSON of Rutherford North Carolina

First Generation

1.   Alexander DAVIDSON of Rutherford County North Carolina was born 
about 1714 in Scotland. He died before Feb 1748 in Spotsylvania County, 
Virginia. Alexander had two brothers, Hezekiah and William Davidson.
(Alexander not to be confused with the Alexander Davidson of Iredell 
County, North Carolina in the same time period, who was also a 
Blacksmith and a Minister.)
Alexander married Sarah ELLIS, daughter of Hezekiah ELLIS and
Elizabeth "Mary" ( ? ),. Sarah was born 7 Nov 1717 in Middlesex
County, Virginia.  Sarah Ellis m. 2nd Richard Condron.
They had the following children:

1744 and died 15 Aug 1817.
          3    M    ii.  Phillip DAVIDSON was born about 1745 in
Gloucester County, Virginia. He died in Davidson County, Virginia.
          4    M    iii. James DAVIDSON was born about 1746 in
Gloucester County, Virginia.
          5    M    iv.  William DAVIDSON was born about 1747. He
died about 1762 in Spotsylvania County, Virginia.
          6    M     v.   Ellis DAVIDSON.



Second Generation

2.   Alexander DAVIDSON Rev (Alexander) was born 31 Jan 1744 in
Gloucester County, Virginia. He died 15 Aug 1817 in Glasgow, Barren
County, Kentucky and was buried in Glasgow, Barren County,
Kentucky.
Alexander married (1) Anna BRIDGES about 1768 in Virginia. Anna
was born about 1746 in Ireland. She died 1783 in Rutherford County,
North Carolina.
They had the following children:

          8    M    ii.  John DAVIDSON was born 1770. He died 10
Dec 1844 in Green County, Illinois.
John married Rachel ELLIS, daughter of Benjamin ELLIS and Rachel
PRESNELL, on 28 Apr 1788 in Tryon County, North Carolina. Rachel
was born about 1773 in Tryon County, North Carolina. She died in
Green County, Illinois.
          9    F    iii. Margaret DAVIDSON was born 17 Sep 1772
in North Carolina. She died 18 Mar 1860 in Tennessee.
Margaret married Rubin BOSTICK on 12 Sep 1797 in Barren County,
Kentucky. Rubin was born before 1776. He died before 1813 in 
Rutherford County, North Carolina.
     +    10   M    iv.  Alexander DAVIDSON was born about 1773
and died 13 Mar 1841.
          11   M    v.   Hezekiah DAVIDSON , Gunsmith. was born
about 1773 in Rutherford Co., North Carolina. He died about 1841
in Warren County, Illinois.
Hezekiah married (1) Lettice ISBELL on 15 Oct 1795.
Hezekiah also married (2) Eleanor WILSON on 24 Nov 1800 in Warren
County, Illinois.
          12   F    vi.  Anna DAVIDSON was born about 1776 in
Rutherford Co., North Carolina. She died about 1854 in Maury
County, Tennessee.
Anna married Jesse GOODMAN before 1794 in Glasgow, Barren County,
Kentucky.
          13   M    vii. William DAVIDSON was born 7 Jul 1780 in
Buncombe Co., North Carolina. He died 29 Jul 1843 in Woodford
County, Illinois.
William married Aspassia ELLIS, daughter of John ELLIS and Mary
QUINN, about 1794 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. Aspassia was
born about 1775 in Tryon County, North Carolina. She died about
1814 in Barren County, Kentucky.
          14   M    viii.     Elijah Barton DAVIDSON was born 23
Feb 1782 in Rutherford Count, North Carolina. He died 24 Apr 1870
in North Monmouth, Polk County, Oregon.
Elijah married (1) Margaret MURPHY on 4 Feb 1799 in Barren
County, Kentucky. Margaret was born before 1784.
Elijah also married (2) Margaret Ann MCBRIDE about 1866 in
Oregon.

Alexander also married (2) Mary ELLIS, daughter of Benjamin ELLIS
and Rachel PRESNELL, on 28 Apr 1783 in Rutherford County, North
Carolina. Mary was born 8 Jan 1762 in Rowan County, North
Carolina. She died 10 Mar 1849 in Barren County, Kentucky.
They had the following children:

Kentucky. Susan was born 1796.

died 16 Sep 1852/1853.
          18   M    xii. Abram Spencer DAVIDSON was born 23 Jan
1789 in Rutherford Co., North Carolina. He died 4 Feb 1840 in
Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Abram married (1) Margaret "Polly" BRINSON on 2 Nov 1811 in
Barren County, Kentucky.
Abram also married (2) Laura Fitzallen STODDARD about 1826.
Abram also married (3) Mariah S. LANDIS after 1826.
          19   M    xiii.     Jacob Ellis DAVIDSON was born 3 Oct
1801 in Barren County, Kentucky. He died 25 Nov 1884 in Santa
Rosa, California.
Jacob married Mary Bowles WINN on 16 Feb 1826 in Barren County,
Kentucky.
          20   M    xiv. Asa Ellis DAVIDSON was born about 1802
in Barren County, Kentucky. He died before 1849 in Missouri.
Asa married Amanda GASSAWAY on 8 Sep 1829 in Barren County,
Kentucky.
          21   M    xv.  Allen Albert DAVIDSON was born about
1813 in Barren County, Kentucky. He died about 1840 in Lexington,
Fayette County, Kentucky.
          22   M    xvi. Albert Bishop DAVIDSON was born about
1813 in Barren County, Kentucky. He died before 1901 in Santa
Rosa, California.
          23   F    xvii.     Elizabeth DAVIDSON was born about
1794 in Barren County, Kentucky. She died before 1849 in
Missouri.
Elizabeth married Benjamin THURSTON Dr. on 15 Feb 1819 in Barren
County, Kentucky.

in Rutherford Co., North Carolina. She died 13 Apr 1896 in Santa
Rosa, California.

7.   James DAVIDSON (Alexander, Alexander) was born 1764/1768. He
died 22 Aug 1824 in Obion County, Tennessee.
He had the following children:

after 1850.

Richard married Tracy PERRY on 23 Feb 1806 in Barren County, Kentucky.

10.  Alexander DAVIDSON (Alexander, Alexander) was born about
1773 in Virginia. He died 13 Mar 1841 in Montgomery County, Missouri.
Alexander married Sarah ELLIS, daughter of Benjamin ELLIS and
Rachel PRESNELL, about 1790 in South Carolina. Sarah was born 30
Sep 1767 in Tryon County, North Carolina.
They had the following children:

Rachel married William SHIPLEY, son of George SHIPLEY and
Elizabeth MCCORD, on 19 Nov 1807 in Barren County, Kentucky.

17.  Isaac DAVIDSON (Alexander, Alexander) was born 31 Mar 1786
in Rutherford County, North Carolina. He died 16 Sep 1852/1853 in
Barren County, Kentucky and was buried in Davidson Cemetery, Barren
County, Kentucky.
Isaac married Susannah "Sukey" DODD on 19 Jul 1810 in Barren
County, Kentucky. Susannah was born 15 Jul 1793. She died 2 Jul
1862 in Barren County, Kentucky.
They had the following children:

Cemetery, Barren County, Kentucky.

          42   M    vii. William B. DAVIDSON was born 4 May 1821
in Barren County, Kentucky.
William married Mary J. SPILLMAN on 10 Jun 1853.
          43   M    viii.     Winston F. DAVIDSON was born 7 Mar
1825. He died 3 Jul 1885 in Barren County, Kentucky and was buried in
Davidson Cem, Barren County, Kentucky.
Winston married America. America was born 4 May 1833. She died 2
May 1900 in  Barren County, Kentucky.

          45   F    x.   Matilda DAVIDSON.
Matilda married DAVIS.

   His wife, Sarah. was named administrator of his will on 7 Feb 1748, 
from Spotsylvania Co. VA pg 479-480. Goods and Chattels were listed
13 Feb 1746, page 487.
   Alexander came to America from Scotland via Ireland with 2 brothers, 
Hezekiah and William.
...Alexander was a Blacksmith and Minister.
I have extracts from Spotsylvania Co. VA. Orange Co. NC,  Caswell Co. 
NC, Rutherford Co. NC, Warren/Barren Co. KY  records tracing Alex I 
and II on down, and copies of the  two family histories written by 
grandchildren on  different lines.
