1.  Solomon PUTMAN was born about 1794 in Union County, South Carolina. He died about 1835 
and was buried in Carroll County?, Tennessee. Solomon was the son of Reverand John Putman 
and Sarah Howard.
Solomon married Harriett WOODSON, daughter of John WOODSON, before 1820 in South Carolina. 
Harriett was born about 1799 in Union County, South Carolina. She died 2 Mar 1860 in 67? years?, 
near Milan, Carroll County, Tennessee and was buried in New Hope Cemetery, Shady Grove, Carroll 
County, Tennessee.
They had the following children:

Nancy married Mr. GLASS.
    4  F  iii.  Harriett PUTMAN.
Harriett married Giles BRYANT on 23 Feb 1847 in Carroll County, Tennessee. Giles was born 12 Mar 1827. 
He died 21 Jan 1914 in Carroll County, Tennessee and was buried in Friendship Cemetery, Milan Arsenal, 
Carroll County, Tennessee.

Sarah married Thomas HOWARD on 10 Oct 1859 in Carroll County, Tennessee.

Mary married (1) Eldridge HAYNES on 8 Sep 1842.

Eliza married J. C. BURROUGHS on Nov 1852.
Second Generation

5.  John Thomas PUTMAN (Solomon) was born 1821 in South Carolina. He died May 1850 in Carroll 
County, Tennessee.
John married Mary M. LITTLE, daughter of Adam LITTLE and Susannah R. BLANKENSHIP, on 21 Jul 1842 
in Carroll County, Tennessee. Mary was born 21 Jul 1821 in South Carolina. She died before 1870.
They had the following children:

William married Martha OVERTON on Nov 1852 in Carroll County, Tennessee. Martha was born 1830 
in Virginia.

11.  William Newton PUTMAN (John Thomas, Solomon) was born 1847 in Carroll County, Tennessee.
William married Lucy A. BLEDSOE, daughter of Wellington Haywood BLEDSOE and Ellenor RUST, 
on 19 Mar 1868 in Gibson County, Tennessee. Lucy was born 1848 in Tennessee.
They had the following children:

Mary married J. L. PERKINS on 2 Jan 1888 in Madison County, Tennessee.

He died 2 Mar 1879 and was buried in Shiloh Cemetery.
John married Frances GOODRIDGE on 10 Dec 1873 in Gibson County, Tennessee. 
Frances was born Jun 1849 in Tennessee.

Linnie married Mr. HOUSE.
    18  M  ii.  John C. PUTMAN was born 19 Jun 1878 in Tennessee. He died 14 Nov 1902 in Tennessee

John married Mary Etta STRIBLING. Mary was born 1870. She died 1942.

15.  Allie May PUTMAN (William Newton, John Thomas, Solomon) was born 11 Mar 1876 in Tennessee. 
She died 7 Apr 1959 in Madison County, Tennessee.
Allie married (1) A. Wade JACOBS on 1892.
They had the following children:

Allie also married (2) David HOWELL.
They had the following children:
    20  M  ii.  William Thomas (William Thomas Jacobs) HOWELL was born 1 Jan 1894 in Trenton, Gibson 
County, Tennessee. He died 16 May 1925 in Cisco, Eastland County, Texas.
William married Margaret Ione RICHARDS. Margaret was born Aug 1895 in Memphis, Shelby County, 
Tennessee. She died 1923 in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee.
16.  Vernon Taylor PUTMAN (William Newton, John Thomas, Solomon) was born 22 Sep 1885 in Gibson 
County, Tennessee.
Vernon married Bertha D.. Bertha was born 1891 in Tennessee.
They had the following children:

This is John's son. This would be Solomon and his first wife. 
He will soon be widowed and then will marry Harriet Woodson in 1827. 
He administered his dad's estate later in 1820. The listing here is 000110 40010. 
He will go to Tennessee soon.

She is Harriet Woodson, the widow of Solomon Putman. Solomon 
was a son of the Reverend John Putman from South Carolina. She 
is in her 30s. Her listing shows a large family of 0002 011201. 
Carroll County is out in the western part of the state. Her two sons 
at home are William and John, the eldest son Martin has his own 
listing in McNairy County.

HARRIETT PUTMAN Carroll County
Solomn's widow is now 50 born in NC. With her are Sarah 26 SC, 
William 24 SC and Eliza Jane 16 TN. William will marry Martha 
Overton here in November 1852 and go to White County, Arkansas. 
Eliza will marry J. C. Burroughs here also in November 1852. The other two daughters 
listed in 1840 were Mary who married Eldridge Haynes on September 8, 1842 and 
Harriett who married Jiles Bryant on February 23, 1847.

Solomon Putman will recorded Mar 7 1835 Carroll co.names 5 other daughters and wife 
Harriett. The will is transcribed on tngenweb Carroll Co. page.

Carroll County Court) August 18th 1834

I, Solomon Putman being in a low state of health but being of a sound mind and possessing 
all my Reason & Judgement do make and ordain this my last will & Testament, first it is my 
will and desire that my Daughter Nancy Glass have given to her in money or property Out of 
my estate One hundred dollars valuing what she has already got at forty three Dollars (that 
is $57. more making with what she has got $100) as soon as practicable after my death and 
that each of my other fived Daughters have each One hundred dollars in money or property 
made up to them as they marry of come of age as a part of their several Legacies. 
Secondly, it is my will and desire that my son John Thomas Puttman have One hundred and
fifty dollars in money or property as may be most convenient for the Estate at the age of 
twenty one years as a part of his legacy. 
Thirdly, it is my will and desire that all my estate be kept together Only so much as may be 
sufficient to comply with this my will and for the bennefit of the estate which shall be sold 
or disposed of for said purposesas my executor shall deem most expedient all the ballance 
to be kept together in the hands of my wife for the purpose of raising and schooling my 
children provided she remains my widdow or lives until my youngest son William Howard Putman 
comes of age at which time the whole to be sold and after a portion of One hundred dollars 
to each of my sons the ballance to be Equally divided among all my children, making my beloved 
wife Harriett an equal Heir with my Daughter (counting each portion recd. as part in said 
division so as to make all equal Heirs Only the boy $100. each the most in a general division. 
Fourthly, I constitute ordain & appoint John Howard Senr. my executor investing him with full 
power to manage my said Estate to the best advantage in a complyance in this my Last will and 
Testament, giving him the power to sell the Land and buy more elsewhere or to sell property 
belonging to the estate and buy more or to act in any way therein to proffit said estate for 
the completion of of my Will & bennefit of my Estate in as full a manner as prudent. 
Lastly, I resign my body to the tomb and my Spriit into the hands of God that gave it, Amen.

MARY PUTMAN Carroll County
She is the widow of Solomon's son John Putman. Mary (Little) is 30 SC is living next door to 
Harriett with the LITTLE family from South Carolina. With her are her three children: 
Thomas Putman 6, William N. 3 and John H. 10 months old. In the 1840 census, 
Harriett had two sons in their 20s. They were William who is still at home and John Putman 
who married Mary Little on July 21, 1842, and seems to have died in the past year.

Mary is the widow of John Putman who was Solomon's son. Mary is 
now 40 with the same three sons at home, Thomas 16, William 12 
and John 11. Living with them is Jane Roper 14.

WILLIAM PUTMAN White County
William is 32 SC, his wife Martha is 30 VA and Ann is 7 TN. He is a son of the Harriett Putman 
found in Carroll County, Tennessee in 1840 and 1850. His folks were Solomon Putman and 
Harriett Woodson from Union County, South Carolina. His wife is Martha Overton, they were 
married in Carroll County, Tennessee in November 1852. They are living in Jackson township 
in the middle portion of Arkansas. 
I do not find him in Arkansas in 1870.

10.  William Newton PUTMAN
1870 Carroll County, Tennessee
NEWTON PUTMAN Carroll County
He is listed as William in 1880. He is a son of John Putman and 
Mary Little, grandson of Solomon. He is 21 TN, his wife Lucy Bledsoe 
is 22 TN, and they have Mary Ellen 8 months old.

1880 Gibson County, Tennessee
WILLIAM (NEWTON) PUTMAN Gibson County
He is 33 TN and his wife Lucy Bledsoe is 34 TN. Children are Mary 
Ellen 11, Allie 5 and Ellen 3. There is a marriage record in Gibson 
County of a Newton Putman marrying Lucy Bledsoe on March 19, 
1868. He is the William who was with his mother Mary Little Putman. 
His father was Solomon's son John Putman. Solomon was a son of 
the Reverend John Putman of Union County, South Carolina.

She Lucy Bledsoe the wife of William Newton Putman. William is 
in the State Pen out in Davidson County. They were in the county 
in 1880. She is now 54 TN with Vernon Taylor 14 (born September 
22, 1885) at home.

11.  John H. (John M. ?) PUTMAN

FANNIE PUTMAN Gibson County
She is Frances Goodridge. She married the above William's brother 
John M. Putman in Gibson County on December 10, 1873, and I 
guess John died a year or so ago. She is 31 TN and has Linnie 4 
and John 2 with her. She and the kids are still here in 1900.

FANNIE PUTMAN Gibson County
She is 51 TN born June 1859. She is Frances Goodridge, the widow 
of John M. Putman. At home still are John G. 22, born June 1878 and 
her daughter Linnie D. House 24 born May 1876. Linnie is either a 
widow or her marriage doesn't look too promising right now.

2. Vada B. SIRES was born on 14 Dec 1892.  She died on 11 May 1894.  
She was buried in Shiloh Cemetery, Carroll County, TN.

I can't say that I know where to start. I just found out that my great great grandfather 
adopted his son (my g-grandfather) and I have been researching the wrong person. 
*sigh* My new search is for A. Wade Jacobs. He was apparantly a wealthy older man 
who married my gg grandmother, Allie Mae Putman. Allie didn't like her older husband 
and decided to leave him when she found that she was pregnant. She went home to her 
mother and never went back to A. Wade Jacobs. She later married David Howell and her 
child, William Thomas was raised as a Howell. He never even knew that he was adopted
