Francis Vanderpool is shown in two places in 1880 census -- Wasco County, Falls Precincet, p. 254 and in Yamhill County, West Chehalem, p. 398. He was a carpenter by trade, so probably moved around on the job.

Francis Marion Vanderpool and Nancy Priscilla Shepard were married on 24 Jan 1853 in Cascade Falls, Skamania County, Washington Territory.³ There is no Cascade Falls, Oregon as has been reported for their marriage place. Francis M. Vanderpool and Nancy P. Shepard were married at Cascade Falls, Washington Territory (on the Washington side of the Columbia River). They settled on the "Blevins place" that joined Nancy's father's -- Henry Shepard -- place, which is near what is the town of Stevenson, Skamania County, Washington. Nancy Priscilla Shepard^1,4 (daughter of Henry Shepard and Elizabeth Mattern) was born on 15 Oct 1837 in Jefferson County, Iowa. She died on 10 May 1914 in Stevenson, Skamania County, Washington.
