AND
1.  RIGHT
NOW!
ASAP, if not sooner --
Interview parents,
grandparents, and any living relatives

2. Then take a class in genealogy

3. And invest in a good "how to" book

4. Join your local genealogical society

5. Search through attics and old photo albums and those old dusty boxes

6. Decide now how you will organize your information

7. Warn your family that you are about to become addicted to genealogy

8. Purchase several three-ring binders, depending on the amount of info you have acquired, (you still need these even if you plan to use a computer for information storage--
hard drives crash, technology changes, but
acid free paper lasts a very long time)
and make
lots of room for files, folders and books

9. If you don't have a computer, learn to use one at your local library

10. Become familiar with:
the
Internet,
search engines,
and
e-mail

Last,
don't
put
all
your
faith
in
the
net
or
CDs.
Information on the internet should be considered clues to help you find the original source documents.
