Inducted into the Army in Huntinton, WV, Aug. 7, 1941 and sent to Fort Thomas, Kentucky. He was assigned to Sheppard Field, Texas for training. He served in France and England. He was killed over Bennes, France. His body was returned home and buried in the Gregory Cemetery at Curtin, WV.
Walter died of stomach cancer and pneumonia. At his side when he died was his wife, Myrtle and his daughter-in-law, Nettie. His son and granddaughter were also at the hospital in Morgantown when he died early that Saturday morning.spouse: Fisher, Myrtle (1914 - )
