This Genealogy updates the one published in 1887 by Charles Burleigh, with extensive records on some 9,000 descendants, not including spouses - about 8 times as many as in its predecessor - and showing 15 generations to the present time.

The book is the result of over 16,000 hours of research, study of census and vital records, correspondence with hundreds of family members from coast to coast, and the assistance of many researchers and historians.

Numerous mini-biographies, edited from published and family records, add much to the standard records. Maps and other materials add to the historical understanding. These reports cover 360 years, including the settlement of new frontiers and of the West, as family members moved and settled thoughout the land in practically all of the United States and parts of Canada.

Those who served in the Revolutionary and Civil wars are identified, and there is a major article in the Appendix with a detailed story of 5 Guile brothers in the Revolutionary War. Many others also served in the War of 1812, the Mexican War, the Spanish American War, and both World Wars - in fact, in every national war since the first raids of the Indians in the early 1700's. An extensive every-name index is a convenient location aid.
