Sara Christina Engström Frodig was born 2 Feb 1813 in Misterhult parish in Kalmar län Sweden, the oldest of four children of Nils Engström and Lisa Månsdotter. After coming to this country in 1865 and Kiron in 1867, she became a charter member of the Baptist church whose formation meeting was in her dugout home. For a number of years, she was the mid-wife whose hands were the first to hold many of the new borns. Stories of the area imply that the Frodigs were always there to offer physical and spiritual help to those who were in need.
The Frodigs provided startup help for Sara's nephew, Gustaf Robert Dalman, to come and get a start in farming. Gustaf only lived 10 years in Kiron dying of consumption. He is buried in an unmarked grave in this Frodig lot.
Sara died 27 January 1901 of old age and shares this tombstone with her husband.
